Into the midst of John’s tears, a voice was heard.  It was one of the elders in heaven saying, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah…has triumphed. He is able… Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain… (Rev 5:5–6, NIV84) It was a lamb, the perfect Lamb, the conquering Lamb, the Christ of God, and He alone was found worthy!  With that, heaven erupted in song, “In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”” (Revelation 5:12, NIV84) The slain Lamb conquered like a mighty Lion, the conquering power of the Lion was revealed in the humility of the slain Lamb.

This slain Lamb is our Lord who was hung on the cross. When John the Baptist saw Him, he declared, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the whole world.”  (Jn 1:36) Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, no sin, no blemish, only perfection.  Because of that, God’s wrath against sin was satisfied once and for ALL.

What a Savior!  What a miracle!  What a Lamb!
