Many years ago we were ministering deliverance to a Haitian pastor and we were aggressively combating the demons that held him captive. We were so militant in our approach and were praying so loud, that I think we could be heard in the next village. Right in the middle of our praying, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, “Stop.” I signaled for the team to stop and we became quiet. Then, the Holy Spirit said, “Just love him.” I took this fellow pastor in my arms and hugged him. As I did, his deliverance was complete. The power of God’s love overcame the demons of hell. Hallelujah!

The lesson we learned that day was a valuable one:

When ministering deliverance, never forget that it is a person you are ministering to and that the person always needs to know they are loved. “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8, NIV84) Hallelujah!
